About Us

Many items in our 25+ year collection have become staple designs, the fit stays the same but the fabrics seasonally change. We design and grade all our own patterns xs-xlg (approx. size 6-16). The entire collection is cut + sewn in house in our Edmonton, Alberta studio and almost every item is preshrunk (all garments go through a warm clear wash and then fully dried) Since our designs are made with many natural fibre fabrics, we love the textures and softness that is created after they are washed.

Sabrina Butterfly O'Donnell has always had a passion for clothing design.

She attended UCFV (currently the University of the Fraser Valley) from 1995-1997, in Abbotsford, BC. A year after receiving a diploma in Fashion Design, Sabrina developed her first clothing line, which was sold at two summer festivals in Alberta and a local boutique in Abbotsford.

In 2001, Sabrina returned to Edmonton, where the SB style evolved with it’s new market. In an effort to discover and connect with as many new customers as possible, SB Designs explored the sales avenues of outdoor festivals and markets, large and small craft shows, pop ups and boutiques. And participated in many show and sales from Vancouver Island to Toronto and boutiques from the west to east coast of Canada as well.

In September 2007, Sabrina Butterfly Designs opened their first boutique in Historic Highlands (NorthEast Edmonton) which became the official home of the SB clothing line and featured many other handmade goods by local designers and abroad.

In September 2017, Sabrina Butterfly's home base studio + boutique moved under one roof, into a newly renovated 1950's building located in Montrose (NorthEast Edmonton). The New space, which once was a neighbourhood grocery store, is now the home to where every garment is created in the back end studio before showcased in the front end boutique. With the addition of extra storage + washing facilities in the basement. This new space has officially fulfilled the dream of having the entire business together in one space.

"Clothing is a natural way to express my creative side. It explores many aspects of three-deminsional art, including proportion, form, depth and focusing on the fine details. I am inspired by unusual textures, prints, nature and an array of colours. My most unique designs capture ideas of both the distant past and the present day. I am always striving for the special touch in distinctive design features. I like to use asymmetrical lines and creative closures and notions for detailing, to make a harmonious garment. I use natural blend fabrics, which I preshrink, they are breathable, comfortable and easy to care for. As the seasons change my line takes on new dimensions, creating a statement for a naturally comfortable women."
